- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard. Spread half of this mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. After 30 minutes, spread the remaining ketchup mixture on top.
- Continue baking until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a healthier twist, substitute ground turkey for ground beef.
- You can also add chopped bell peppers or carrots to the meat mixture for extra flavor and nutrition.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, mix in some hot sauce or diced jalapeños.
