Description

A tender and juicy slow-cooked BBQ beef brisket that is perfect for any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 23 pounds beef brisket
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides until browned, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. In a slow cooker, combine the beef broth, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir well to combine.
  4. Place the seared brisket on top of the sauce mixture in the slow cooker. Add the sautéed onions and garlic on top of the brisket.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours, until the brisket is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, remove the brisket from the slow cooker and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing against the grain. Serve with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

  • For a smoky flavor, add a few drops of liquid smoke to the sauce mixture.
  • Serve the brisket on toasted buns for a delicious BBQ sandwich option.
