Ingredients

  • 2 cans 8 oz each refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Red food coloring optional
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon.
  3. Brush the melted butter over the crescent roll triangles, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the dough.
  4. Roll up each triangle from the wide end to the point, creating a tight roll.
  5. Shape the rolls into a brain-like form by twisting and pinching the ends together, then place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by mixing the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a few drops of red food coloring (if using) in a bowl until smooth.
  8. Once the rolls are done, let them cool for a few minutes before drizzling the cream cheese icing over the top. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts for added texture.
  9. Serve warm and enjoy your spooky treat!

  • For a pumpkin spice twist, replace the cinnamon with pumpkin pie spice in the filling.
  • To make these rolls even more festive, use a small amount of chocolate chips in the filling for a chocolate-cinnamon flavor.
