Step-by-Step Instructions for Classic Cheesecake
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup of sugar, and melted butter until well blended. Press into a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese using an electric mixer on low speed until smooth and fluffy. Gradually add in 1 cup of sugar and vanilla extract, blending until combined. Add eggs one at a time.
- Pour the filling over your prepared crust and bake for 50-60 minutes until the edges are firm but the center jiggles slightly.
- Allow the cheesecake to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 1 hour. After it cools, spread a layer of sour cream on top.
- Transfer the cheesecake to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
