Preparation Steps
- Chill your KitchenAid mixer bowl in the freezer for at least 15 hours.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until pale.
- Heat whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 165°F.
- Slowly pour hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan, add remaining sugar, and cook over medium heat until thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool, then brew a strong cup of coffee.
- Combine cooled coffee, custard mixture, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- Pour the mixture into the chilled KitchenAid mixer bowl and churn for 25-30 minutes.
- Fold in the chopped toffee candy gently.
- Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for a couple of hours.
- Let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving.
