Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Chill your KitchenAid mixer bowl in the freezer for at least 15 hours.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until pale.
  3. Heat whole milk in a saucepan over medium heat until it reaches 165°F.
  4. Slowly pour hot milk into the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
  5. Return the mixture to the saucepan, add remaining sugar, and cook over medium heat until thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool, then brew a strong cup of coffee.
  7. Combine cooled coffee, custard mixture, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt in a large bowl.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  9. Pour the mixture into the chilled KitchenAid mixer bowl and churn for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Fold in the chopped toffee candy gently.
  11. Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for a couple of hours.
  12. Let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving.
