  • 3 large Eggs room temperature
For the Chocolate Layer
  • 1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix can substitute with preferred chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup Oil (Canola or Vegetable) may use melted butter
  • 1 cup Milk whole milk recommended
For the Frosting
  • 1 box Chocolate Pudding instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups Whipped Topping (Cool Whip) can replace with homemade whipped cream

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the devil’s food cake mix, oil, water, and eggs until smooth.
  4. Pour the chocolate batter into the greased pan, then gently pour the ricotta mixture on top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes until edges are set and center is slightly jiggly.
  6. Whisk together chocolate pudding mix and milk until thickened, then fold in whipped topping.
  7. Spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the cooled cake and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  8. Slice and serve the Italian Love Cake, showcasing its beautiful layers.
