Step-by-Step Instructions for Hamburger Steak Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, crumbled saltine crackers, 1 cup milk, Italian herbs, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  3. Shape the beef mixture into 1/2-inch thick patties and lightly coat them in all-purpose flour.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a splash of oil. Brown the patties for 2-3 minutes on each side.
  5. Transfer the browned patties to the greased baking dish, spacing them evenly.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and remaining milk until smooth, then pour over the patties.
