- In a medium saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat. Whisk continuously for about 10 minutes until thickened.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until smooth. Gradually add warm milk mixture to temper the yolks.
- Pour tempered egg yolks back into the saucepan with the pudding mixture. Cook on low heat for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract until well blended. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a serving dish or individual cups, layer vanilla wafers, banana slices, and creamy pudding. Repeat until ingredients are used, finishing with pudding on top.
- Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.
