Ingredients
  

For the Baguette Base
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can use melted butter for richer flavor.
  • 1 medium Baguette Can substitute with gluten-free baguette.
For the Creamy Mousse
  • 4 Eggs Hard-boiled for blending.
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese Can use reduced-fat for lighter version.
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Can substitute with Mild Gouda or Monterey Jack.
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Can replace half with Greek yogurt.
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice Fresh is best for flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked preferred.
For the Topping
  • 8 ounces Smoked Salmon Can substitute with gravlax or other smoked fish.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Dill Can replace with parsley or microgreens.
  • 2 tablespoons Chives Can substitute with scallions.

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch rounds and arrange on the baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil.
  3. Bake the baguette slices for 8–10 minutes until golden and crisp. Cool on a wire rack.
  4. In a saucepan, cover the eggs with cold water and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes over rolling boil.
  5. Transfer eggs to an ice bath to cool for 5 minutes, then peel and quarter them.
  6. Blend the cooled eggs, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  7. Transfer the mousse to a piping bag or use a knife to spread onto the baguette slices.
  8. Pipe or spread the mousse on each slice and top with a piece of smoked salmon.
  9. Garnish with fresh dill and chives before serving.
