Method
 

Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat for about 1-2 minutes until it shimmers.
  2. Add 1 diced yellow onion to the skillet, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent and fragrant.
  3. Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves and 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  4. Next, add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook for about 6-7 minutes.
  5. Drain any excess fat from the skillet, then stir in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
  6. Incorporate 1 cup of chopped water chestnuts and 2 chopped green onions into the beef mixture.
  7. Remove the skillet from heat and let the beef mixture cool slightly for about 5 minutes.
  8. Spoon the beef mixture into the center of each leaf of lettuce, garnishing with sesame seeds and green onions.
