Step-by-Step Instructions for Homemade Saltwater Taffy
- Prepare your workspace. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 1 cup of light corn syrup, 1 cup of water, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
- Attach a candy thermometer and increase the heat to high. Boil without stirring until it reaches 270°F.
- Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Pour the hot mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and allow it to cool for about 5-7 minutes.
- Once cool, butter your hands and start pulling the taffy for about 10-15 minutes until it lightens in color.
- Shape the taffy into a log about 1 inch in diameter and cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Wrap each piece individually in wax or parchment paper and store in an airtight container.

Notes
Using a candy thermometer is essential for perfect results. Allow the taffy to cool enough to avoid burns when pulling.
