Step-by-Step Instructions for Jalapeño Popper Toastie
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) or set your grill to medium-high heat and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Lay your bacon strips on the prepared tray and grill for about 15-20 minutes, turning once until golden and crispy.
  3. While the bacon cools, mix minced garlic, grated Parmesan, and softened cream cheese until smooth and creamy.
  4. Generously smear the cheese mixture on one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Layer crispy bacon, chopped pickled jalapeños, and grated cheddar on four slices with cheese side up.
  6. Top with remaining bread slices, cheese side down, creating a sandwich.
  7. Melt 25 grams of butter in a skillet over medium heat and cook the assembled toasties for about 3-4 minutes until golden.
  8. Add remaining butter, flip each toastie gently, and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes.
  9. Remove from skillet, cut in half, and serve hot.
