  • 200 ml Red wine A splash of dry red wine.
  • 500 ml Beef broth Keeps the roast moist.
For Flavor Enhancements
  • 2 sprigs Thyme Or substitute with rosemary or oregano.
  • 2 Bay leaves Adds depth to the sauce.

Method
 

Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
  2. Season the Rinderbraten with salt and pepper on all sides and let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  3. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe pot over medium heat and sear the beef roast for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden-brown.
  4. Remove the roast and sauté chopped onions and minced garlic in the same pot for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in chopped carrots and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Pour in red wine to deglaze the pot, scraping up the browned bits, and allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Mix in beef broth, thyme, and bay leaves, stirring well to combine.
  8. Return the seared roast to the pot, cover, and roast in the preheated oven for 2 to 2.5 hours.
  9. Let the Rinderbraten rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  10. Serve the Rinderbraten with sauce and vegetables, paired with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
